NEWS - PRESIDENT'S REPORT - BY ERIC CAMPBELL
| Victoria - Published on July 31‚ 2008 |
In the twelve months since my last report, I’m proud to say Kids Tennis Foundation has been able to maintain nationwide coverage with around two hundred programs operating in underprivileged schools throughout Australia.
OAMPS Insurance Brokers Ltd, in their final year of sponsorship, continued to provide “added value” over and above their significant annual cash contribution. A special thankyou must go to Brian Austin for his personal involvement in ensuring a mutually rewarding relationship was enjoyed. We are working hard in attracting a replacement Principal Sponsor. KTF is not only a valuable and worthwhile charity but offers sponsors great exposure and excellent promotion opportunities.
Unfortunately American Express was unable to continue with the “Aces Promotion” during the 2008 Australian Open. When KTF received $100 for each ace served on Rod Laver Arena. Not only did we receive a healthy injection of much needed funds over the years it operated, we also enjoyed great publicity, as did American Express, from the Channel 7 commentary team. At this point in time this outstanding sponsorship/promotion opportunity is also available to a suitable organisation.
Continued and very necessary financial support was gratefully received from the Tennis Australia Charitable Fund, the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Fund through the Eldon & Anne Foote Trust, and a most generous donation from Prime Television who continues to provide a number of advertorials in regional Victoria.
I must make special mention of Garnier. Apart from donating part proceeds from the sale of mini bottles of Ambre Solaire sunscreen at the 2007 Australian Open, we have always received wonderful gift packs and presentation packs containing Garnier’s wonderful range of products for use in our annual fund raising activities. And at this year’s Australia Open Garnier went a step further with KTF receiving gold coin donations from ALL mini bottle of Ambre Solaire sunscreen distributed plus those received at Garnier World during the two weeks. Many thousands of dollars later - thank you Garnier!
Since my last report we have conducted two extremely successful fund and “fun” raising activities. Firstly, the “Night of Gold Glitz & Glamour” Ball at The Park Hyatt Melbourne in August last year. This event was very well attended and raised a very healthy sum. In May this year we conducted the “Lady in Red” Mothers’ Day Lunch at Leonda By The Yarra which was described as truly fantastic by all those attending. A huge thanks to L’Oreal and Bridge Road Florist who made special contributions.
Once again we’re indebted to so many who contribute in cash and kind. The hard working social committee is very talented in generating ideas and sourcing prizes and helping to ensure the success of the fundraising events. We have numerous enthusiastic and generous supporters who enable us to keep our programs running. We’re grateful also to the many tennis clubs who donate court usage, racquets and balls.
Thankyou to the State/Territory Administrators, the coaches, the schools and their most co-operative staff, all of whom help in delivering our great KTF programs. The coaches offer more than tennis coaching and we continue to receive testimonials telling us how they provide a role model and give the kids a great sense of responsibility and self awareness.
Our CEO Susie Norton continues to enthusiastically and most capably lead the team, in this her 21st year with KTF. Congrats Susie. Along with the proficient and equally enthusiastic National Co-ordinator, Kate Szabo, the Foundation is in very good hands. A huge thankyou to you both. Finally thankyou to the Board who actively participate in ensuring we continue to provide a very worthwhile social welfare program.
Finally, a very important reminder......
The last fund raising activity for this year is our “Pastel, Paisley & Pearl Ball” with Todd Woodbridge as MC and once again to be held at The Park Hyatt Melbourne on Friday August 29th. This is a must, so book your table now! |
