TALKING TENNIS LUNCH 2006
Venue: MELBOURNE PARK FUNCTION CENTRE
Date: Sunday January 15‚ 2006 at 12:00 am
Talking Tennis Lunch 2006 You know the old saying in tennis - never change a winning game. That’s the philosophy of Kids Tennis Foundation and Talking Tennis. Each year it’s a huge success for KTF and this year’s Talking Tennis produced another big result.

The live broadcast across the Seven Network on the eve of Australian Open 2006 once again took our name and cause into homes around Australia. The 350-strong audience at Melbourne Park were not only treated to a smorgasbord of stars - including Tracy Austin, Lleyton Hewitt, Jelena Dokic, David Nalbandian, Jim Courier, Martina Hingis, John Alexander and Kim Clijsters (not to mention compare Bruce McAvaney) - but the story of our very own Lou Liparota. Working in the inner Melbourne suburb of Collingwood, Lou is one of many dedicated KTF coaches around Australia who give children in disadvantaged schools opportunities they otherwise might never have to play tennis.

Another highlight of this year’s Talking Tennis for all KTF friends and supporters was the presentation of a cheque for $100,000 by Tony Robinson, Group CEO of KTF’s Principal Sponsor, OAMPS Insurance Brokers Ltd, to our Chairman, Paul McNamee. On behalf of us all - and the kids - again, thank you OAMPS!

After Talking Tennis had wound up, KTF continued to receive the most wonderful exposure on Channel 7 during the Australian Open through the exciting American Express Aces program. As each ace was served on Rod Laver Arena, $100 was earmarked for KTF. By tournament’s end, the game’s biggest servers had pounded down hundreds of aces. (See our separate story.) Thank you to the players, and thank you, American Express.

We’re looking forward to Talking Tennis and Australian Open 2007. In fact, bring it on!
