“HOT AUGUST NIGHT”
To celebrate the 25th Kids Tennis Foundation Gala, Ian Cover of “Coodabeen Champions” fame was back as MC to reminisce about the very first KTF Gala when he & John Blackman appeared as Anna Bolic & Dia Bolic, the Steroid Twins and played tennis on the dance floor of the Southern Cross Hotel! What fun that was! And what fun was had by all at this year’s “Hot August Night” in no small way thanks to the wonderful dance music from one of Australia’s most renowned bands, “Captain Spalding”, proudly sponsored by ABBE CORRUGATED CARDBOARD PACKAGING. With the all red decorations & lights, most generously sponsored by Louise Higgins & Function Accessories, the Ballroom at the Sofitel on Collins looked truly elegant & striking. It was great having so many sporting and corporate identities in attendance at our Annual Gala. Feedback has been just wonderful with many commenting on the high quality of the food, the wine and the entertainment.
The Main Auction was an exciting part of the evening with truly amazing items on offer. Milo Rasinac, auctioneer extraordinaire, generated lots of excitement and enthusiasm which resulted in fantastic amounts being realised, especially for the 2 ETIHAD AIRWAYS Business Class return airfares to any of their worldwide destinations and “Dinner for 10 At Home” with CODA’s Executive Chef, ADAM D’SYLVA. Other extremely popular items included A Day at the Football in the SPOTLESS Corporate Suite at the “G”, hospitality in SPOTLESS Marquee for 3 days of the Australian Grand Prix, framed & signed ANDY MURRAY racquet, VICTA Lawn Tractor, 8 Day Tassie Holiday, Signed & Framed Collingwood Jumper, 3AW Advertising Package, FOX SPORTS Package and TENNIS AUSTRALIA AO 2013 Women’s Final Tickets.
A great array of fantastic items and prizes were also on offer in the Silent Auction and Grand Raffle, including extremely generous donations from AAMI Skilled Drivers, Alcaston House Gallery, Antler Luggage, Amer Sports (Wilson) Australia, Beauty Mate, Bargain Car Hire (Tas), Boutique 230 & Chapter One, Bouzy Rouge Restaurant, Bunnings Warehouse, Casa Del Gelato, Cheryl Bastow Design, Cheviot Beach Apartments (Tas), Cricket Australia, Crown Metropol, Elite Sports Properties, Endota Spa Flinders Lane, Gazman, Gianna Trovato, Hal Salter & Family, Hockey Australia, Il Duca Restaurant, Independent Cement & Lime P/L, Inglis, Jane Anderson, Jaspa Herington, Judy Norton, Keon Couture Design, Louise Higgins, Mandy Nowlan, Marian Rennie, Melbourne Racing Club, Moonee Valley Racing Club, Mures Upper Deck Restaurant (Tas), Murray’s Day Out (Tas), Pandora Southland, Prince, Piermont Retreat (Tas), Qantaslink, Rhonda Thatcher, Richmond Seafood Tavern, Stillwater Restaurants (Tas), Sofitel Melbourne, Stanley Lakeside Spa Retreat (Tas), Tamar Valley Resort (Tas) The Gateway (Tas), The Good Guys (Airport West), The Old Wool Store (Tas), The Plastic Man, Tony & Joe Bongiorno, Total Tennis, Vic & Mr J Jewellery, Violet Priscilla Accessories, Wendy Maclean, Winning Edge Presentations, WTA Tour and Zagame Corporation.
How lucky is Kids Tennis Foundation to have such fantastic support from so many wonderful and very generous organizations, companies and individuals!
The generous support of DE BORTOLI WINES & LION NATHAN AUSTRALIA who provided the wines & beer and certainly helped “loosen the purse strings”, of SUKIN SKIN CARE and EMI MUSIC who donated the table prizes and ensured that there were many happy guests, of B& C MAGNETIC MARKETING who donated a very smart red pen for everyone, of TOMORROW AGENCY who designed and produced the fabulous invitations and programmes, of COMPLETE COLOUR PRINTING for the printing of same, ensured that this function was not only truly a social success but also definitely a financial one.
Special thanks to KTF National Co-ordinator, Sarah Nowlan, and her band of helpers and also to the members of the Kids Tennis Foundation Social Committee for their dedication and commitment prior to and on the night, namely Jane Anderson, Mary Eke, Louise Higgins, Lesley McNamee, Judy Norton, Mandy Nowlan, Julie O’Sullivan and Gianna Trovato. To photographer, Cathy O’Reilly and, to all those wonderful people who organised tables, heartfelt thanks.
Close to $75,000 raised.......Truly an incredible result!
As a result of funds raised, Kids Tennis Foundation will be able to continue to provide coaching programs on a regular weekly basis for many, many disadvantaged children throughout Australia, and, in the process, the boost to their self-esteem and self-confidence the important end result. There is a big short fall between the funding we receive and what it costs to run all our programs, hence our fund raising events are extremely important. |
